MAPEI FRIEND RIDE 80km
12-APR-2025
The "MAPEI Friend Ride" scheduled for Apr 12, 2025 (open to all types of bicycles including modern bicycles and e-bikes) is an exciting event aimed at riding the new course recommended by Eroica Japan, the "Short 1" route called "Fuji 80". This route, even in its short version, offers the characteristic Eroica riding experience over an 80 km route. Starting from the Nirayama Cultural Center, riders will traverse Japan's first environmentally friendly cycling road, Strade Bianche, developed by MAPEI, then pass through the Tenshiyu hot spring area where Kawabata Yasunari wrote "The Dancing Girl of Izu," before aiming for the dynamic mountain ranges of the Nishi-Izu Skyline with gentle hill climbs. The highlight, like the Samurai and Dancer routes, is the view of Mount Fuji from the Nishi-Izu Skyline. The dynamic scenery of Mount Fuji and Suruga Bay deeply moves the hearts of riders. The latter part of the route entails a leisurely cycling along the beautiful coastline of Numazu. While gazing at the old fishing villages of Japan, riders can also indulge in the delicious cuisine of Izu. It's truly a condensed route that captures the charm of the Izu Peninsula woven by mountains and sea. Even for those who don't have an Eroica-standard bike, this luxurious ride allows them to fully experience the allure of Eroica and the Izu Peninsula. After sweating it out, riders can look forward to a fun exchange with Eroica riders at the pre-event festival. It's also an ideal warm-up for riders participating in the actual Eroica event.
